One of the world’s most acclaimed choreographers of the 20th Century, Swedish maverick Mats Ek’s trademark black humour comes to Alberta for the first time with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal's riveting rendition of his Sleeping Beauty. Set to Tchaikovsky's spell-binding score, this adult fairytale takes Aurora on a quest for the unknown and is nothing short of astonishing. Created in an esthetic that is at once subversive, highly comical and yet deeply troubled, Mats Ek’s remarkable version of Princess Aurora’s mythical odyssey has been acclaimed and cherished around the world as one of the great choreographic masterpieces of the century.

CLASS ACTS - A Tribute to Hollywood Musicals will pay tribute to the magical era of Hollywood musicals from the 1930s and 1940s, featuring the legendary recordings of some of the greatest artists of all time, including Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne, Nat 'King' Cole, Chet Baker, and Peggy Lee. Travel back to Hollywood's golden age and be dazzled by the fantastical world of iconic Hollywood musicals as we follow a maverick movie director while he films a series of breathtaking and glamorous dance sequences. These dynamic and upbeat dance creations will feature large Hollywood inspired ensemble numbers, powerful solos, and romantic duets, all reminiscent of the great triumphs of the silver screen.
