Pilobolus Dance Theatre

Alberta Ballet is proud to present this radically innovative and globally acclaimed dance theater company who have performed in over 63 countries and entertained over 120 million viewers.  Pilobolus has been featured on the Academy Awards and the Oprah Winfrey show and are delighted to be back performing in Canada for the first time in over a decade.

Opening Alberta Ballet’s 44th season, Pilobolus Dance Theatre brings its riveting dance stylings back to Canada for the first time in over a decade.  Celebrating their 40th season, Pilobolus has been featured around the world on television shows such as the Academy Awards and Oprah.  Renowned for its imaginative and athletic fusion of extreme acrobatics, pure dance and shadow play, Pilobolus has produced over 100 choreographic works and has become an institution and genre unto itself.

Each season Alberta Ballet endeavors to educate and expand audience experiencing by exposing our patrons to innovative guest companies.  We also work in collaboration with other great Alberta Arts organizations to introduce new dances artists as well as more   familiar choreographers.  Alberta Ballet proudly maintains a strategic commitment to new and innovative work and partnerships   and is proud to be presenting Pilobolus Dance Theatre in conjunction with The Fluid Movement Arts Festival in Calgary and the Brian Webb Dance Company in Edmonton to enrich contemporary creative practice.  It is the goal of Alberta Ballet to build audiences through emerging and challenging dance experiences and educates Alberta audiences on new and different forms of dance and athleticism.

This work is unlike anything Alberta has seen, and Alberta Ballet is thrilled to bring these pioneers of athleticism and theatricality to our home in the Canadian Prairies.
