Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maître Appointed as Choreography Director for the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games Ceremonies

Calgary/Edmonton, AB - The 2010 Olympic Winter Games will be given a special Albertan flair next year as Alberta Ballet Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maître will serve as the Choreography Director for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games Opening, Closing and nightly Victory Ceremonies. Announced by VANOC, Grand-Maître joins 18 other pre-eminent, world class creative artists charged with the selection of musical arrangements, designing the lighting and audio, selecting performing talent and creating the many facets of the internationally-viewed ceremonies. Grand-Maître in particular will be responsible for overseeing the choreography of the 4,500 volunteer performers.

"It is truly an honour to be part of this remarkably talented group," said Grand-Maître, "I am thrilled to represent Alberta Ballet and to be a part of this historic event."

Recently Alberta Ballet unveiled its ambitious 2009-2010 season and thrilled the world with its announcement of new groundbreaking collaborations. The company is honoured that its Artistic Director's creative spirit has been recognized and will be seen by billions of people around the world with the creation of these Ceremonies for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
