A Taste For Ballet

A TASTE FOR BALLET

... from the finest of dining experiences to backyard barbeques - it's simple, accessible and fun!

Alberta Ballet has announced a unique Province wide fundraiser.  A TASTE FOR BALLET, will occur at dinner parties throughout Alberta during the month of March, 2013.

A TASTE FOR BALLET will be the perfect combination of doing something people already love doing – dining – while making a significant difference in the community.  Interested Albertans simply pick a date in March to host a dinner party – from a back yard barbeque to iron chef – A TASTE FOR BALLET is accessible to all.  When friends and family are invited, hosts let their guests know the event will benefit Alberta Ballet’s A TASTE FOR BALLET, and a contribution will be accepted from each guest in attendance.

Hosts pick a date, let Alberta Ballet know the date, determine the menu, invite guests and establish the guest’s contribution size.  Hosts collect their receipts and donations from hosting and submit them to Alberta Ballet, as all contributions are tax deductible.

A TASTE FOR BALLET will support three priorities of the organization; and dinner hosts can choose one or more to support.

Alberta Ballet’s Education and Outreach Programs
Discover Dance is a chance for students to experience first-hand exposure to performances.  The province-wide program reaches schools, both inner city and rural, giving children the opportunity to interact with dancers, costumes, lighting, sets, props and designs.

Alberta Ballet in YOUR Community enables the Company to bring the magic of dance to children’s hospitals, high-needs facilities and many more.

Discover Dance and Albert Ballet in YOUR Community engage more than 10,000 children annually across the province.

The School of Alberta Ballet Scholarship Program
Regardless of their financial means, each student’s remarkable potential is nurtured thanks to the generous support of donors. Contributions  to the School of Alberta Ballet ensures that talent alone remains the sole criterion for entry – a core value of the School’s that has not changed since its founding. Currently, over 24 % of students in the Professional Ballet Program require financial assistance.

Alberta Ballet Foundation
Gifts to the Alberta Ballet Foundation help create a critical and sustained source of funding that ensures Alberta Ballet’s future financial stability. Funds in the Foundation are held in perpetuity; the income derived from these investments provides a long-term and predictable source of support to finance the creation of new ballets.

A TASTE FOR BALLET engages the public with Alberta Ballet in a way that is meaningful and individual to them.  With the launch of A TASTE FOR BALLET, Alberta Ballet has chosen to put The House and Garden Tour on hiatus for this season.

The House and Garden Tour could not happen without the generosity of so many Albertans over the past 24 years in Calgary and 19 years in Edmonton, and Alberta Ballet looks forward to introducing A TASTE FOR BALLET to the province.
