Dear Lovers of Dance,

On the cusp of our new season, I am left to ponder a word...One word to describe ballet that crosses the borders of our minds, our province, country and our souls. After much reflection, I can think of no better word to describe this company than fiercely "Alive".

We are alive in mind. This season, the inspirational works of some of ballet's greatest creators and artists grace our stages.

We are alive in body. Our spiritual Olympians are prepared to take on a new season of physical challenges that push the limits of endurance. They are a constant source of inspiration to me and to our audiences worldwide, from New York City to Shanghai, across Canada, and most recently on the National Ballet of Canada's Four Seasons stage.

We are alive in spirit. Our season line-up takes us into the soul-stirring realms of the fantastical, from Neverland to Wonderland, and perhaps into the most mysterious place of all, the landscape of the human mind.
