Join us for the canadian premiere of Danseur - a documentary that examines the stereotypes of boys and men in ballet

Alberta Ballet and Alberta Ballet School have teamed up with the Edmonton Community Foundation and Boys Dance Too to bring you the Canadian Premiere of Danseur, a NuArts production that shines a spotlight on the struggles men and boys face in pursuit of their ballet dreams.

Director Scott Gormley explores the difficult subjects of bullying and homophobia that male dancers can face while illustrating the athleticism as well as vitality of ballet, through performance, creation, preservation and education.

After the screening, Alberta Ballet and Alberta Ballet School will host a panel discussion about what it’s like to be a male dancer in Alberta. Panelists include company dancers, school instructors and members of our artistic team.
