de.Vi.ate showcases two hours of cutting edge, high octane choreography wrapped in riveting multimedia spectacle. It’s an exploration of the physicality of dance in a program true to Alberta Ballet’s vision of creating the most exciting live dance experiences found anywhere in Canada.
CHOREOGRAPHY: Wen Wei Wang
MUSIC: Infamous/Original Soundtrack from the Video Game
Acclaimed Choreographer Wen Wei Wang continues the futurist theme with Futureland, a piece inspired by the aesthetics of contemporary video game art and music.
CHOREOGRAPHY: Christopher Anderson
MUSIC: Ezio Bosso and Ludovico Einaudi
Associate Artistic Director, Christopher Anderson, completes the program with an inspired new creation which punctuates classical dance with athletisism and contemporary movement.
CHOREOGRAPHY: Jean Grand-Maître
MUSIC: Andrew Staniland
Caelestis, originally commissioned by the National Arts Center for Canada’s sesquicentennial, is a mind-bending dance ritual featuring Alberta Ballet’s first-ever Juno nominated orchestral score composed by Alberta’s own Andrew Staniland. Fusing music, dance and the projections of Alberta-based, Oscar-nominated filmmakers Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis, Caelestis explores our diminishing humanity in an ever-expanding technological landscape.
