This iconic ballet features technique-testing choreography. In this powerful addition to Alberta Ballet’s repertoire, Choreographer Christopher Anderson has crafted a version that incorporates the celebrated signature moments from the ballet’s rich history.

When the dancers returned to the studio from the summer break, they had a mere eight weeks to master a ballet that is feted as the definitive expression of classical aesthetic.

Artistic Director Jean Grand-Maître calls the creation a rare chance to create ‘Grand Ballet’:  “It’s been exhilarating to see the dozens of tutus reappear in our studios,” says Grand-Maître. “It’s been equally exhilarating to see the dancer fearlessly plunge into this brilliant choreography.”
