The tales from the Brothers Grimm have been children’s classics for generations, but these classics, collected from oral folklore traditions, have origins in a darker realm.

Alberta Ballet has commissioned a world premiere from rising choreographic star Stefania Ballone of Milan’s Teatro alla Scala.  With an extensive background working in contemporary and classical ballet, Stefania will harness the expressive power of dance and delve into the unsettling undercurrents of the Brothers Grimm’s stories.

This world premiere also includes a new score from Taketo Gohara, composed exclusively for Alberta Ballet.

GRIMM intensifies the dark side of our childhood favourites as seven Brothers Grimm tales intertwine to one spine-chilling ballet. These adult interpretations will create an atmosphere filled with thrills and chills at the Jubilee, just in time for Halloween.

GRIMM contains mature content and is not intended for very young children.

Video features Artists of Alberta Ballet:  Luna Sasaki, Alexandra Hughes, Allison Perhach, Aaron Anker, Yaroslav Khudych, Scotto Hamed-Ramos
